MEET
OUR PASTOR
Rev. T. Michael Rock
So, you wanted to find out more, congratulations. What a blessing it is to serve this congregation. I was called to serve here in July 2006 and began my ministry here in November. I served churches in Providence, RI and Sudbury, MA before coming to Minnesota. When I am not doing church work, I am usually tending to the larger spiritual community and my own spiritual life. I am a nonviolence trainer in an international movement called, Creating a Culture of Peace (see www.kirkridge.org and look for peace and justice links), a sexuality educator and writer for the United Church of Christ and Unitarian Universalist Association (www.ucc.org/justice/owl), and I practice Insight Meditation. I moved to Minnesota with my partner of twelve years, Morgan, and our almost three year old, Nathan. We are thrilled to live near the parks, lakes, and the fabulous bike trails in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro area as well as all of our new friends.
My approach to ministry is to provide a place where everyone has the resources, inspiration and courage to do their own ministry. I believe each member and friend of this congregation is gifted by the Spirit to spread the good news of healing and love in their own settings. Each week we gather for worship, bible study, ministry meetings, and a good time in order to equip us all to do what God calls us to do, “Do Justice, Love Kindness, and Walk Humbly with Our God.” (Micah 6:8)
So, if you are looking for a church with a radical welcome for all God’s people (www.ucccoalition.org) and a place that equips the saints for ministry and a place where we are not afraid to cry and laugh with each other, then this is probably the church for you. If you would like to know more about my ministry, visit my blog at i.ucc.org and look under the Prayer Chapel.
